What is the Best Bible Verse for Christmas?

While there could be an argument for many Bible verses as the best Bible verse to share with loved ones this Christmas, this Christmas Bible verse captures the true spirit of the holiday and our faith:

John 3:16 (NIV)

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

God chose His only Son to come down from heaven and give us, His children, the opportunity to have eternal life. Through Jesus, we have salvation; with Jesus’ birth, we are given the chance at heaven.

How great a gift that is—God’s love, mercy, and grace! This is why we rejoice and praise God during the season of Christmas.

What are Some Good Bible Verses to Put in a Christmas Card?

Looking for other good Christmas Bible verses to put in your Christmas cards? This section includes longer Bible verses, while the following section gives you shorter Christmas Bible verses if your cards don’t have much room to write (or you’re short on time!). We hope you find a verse that speaks to you as you share with your loved ones this Christmas.

Titus 3:4-7 (NIV)

But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life.

Matthew 1:20-23 (NIV)

“Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to give Him the name Jesus, because He will save His people from their sins.” All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call Him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”).

Luke 2:8-11 (NIV)

And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; He is the Messiah, the Lord.”

Isaiah 9:6-7 (NIV)

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the LORD Almighty will accomplish this.

Luke 2:4-7 (NIV)

So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.
