As our team noted a few weeks ago, there used to be lines that were not crossed in the world of entertainment. Today, the avant-garde offering is not only more acceptable in the mainstream market, but it is also more accessible to viewers of all ages.
Our tiniest viewers can now reach content that would have been reserved for timeslots beyond their bedtime in a world where cable was king. And even shows that are said to be made for kids often face issues of content and form that are unique to a generation that will be raised on streaming.
Enter Iggy and Mr. Kirk – the latest children’s series to hit Great American Pure Flix.
Imagine the setting of Mr. Rogers, the lessons of Veggie Tales, and the creative talents of Kirk Cameron and Leigh-Allyn Baker all rolled into one 20-minute, values-driven episode.
This is precisely what you get with Iggy and Mr. Kirk – which follows the adventures of Iggy the Iguana as he explores themes of faith, family, and friendship under the wise moral guidance of his good friend, Mr. Kirk (Kirk Cameron).
It was an easy decision to pursue this new series. Among the staff at Great American Media are many devoted parents who are striving day in and day out towards the mission of creating content that is suitable for the whole family to enjoy together. And while kids can absolutely tune-in to an airing of romcoms like For the Love of Chocolate or episodes of series like Brookfield, there is something special about a program crafted specifically with kids in mind.
We chose Iggy and Mr. Kirk because it speaks to our mission, but also because it speaks the language of kids. It is a fun and fresh take on a children's story hour, complete with plenty of crafts and life lessons along the way. This combination represents excellence in children’s programming that is hard to find.
As Kirk Cameron aptly stated: “With Iggy and Mr. Kirk we’re committed to telling stories that parents can trust and kids can enjoy.” And we can take this a step farther – with Iggy and Mr. Kirk on Great American Pure Flix, we are dedicated to telling these trustworthy stories within an ecosystem that is open for kids across the board.
Iggy and Mr. Kirk starts streaming on 6/2! Grab the popcorn, the whole family, and enjoy!
