Top 5 Ways On How You Can Decorate Your Home Like a Great American Christmas Set

There’s truly no place like the cozy living room of a home decorated for Christmas in the small town of a Great American Christmas movie! How many times have you wished you could transport yourself into the movie right alongside Candace Cameron Bure?! We’re here to teach you all of the tips and tricks to make your home look just like one of our movie sets!

Tip 1 – A Christmas tree of course!

You’re going to want to start with the star of the show—a big, bright, beautiful Christmas tree. Whatever you already own works great! You’ll just want to add lights, ornaments, ribbon, and your favorite tree topper to really capture the enchantment and give it some pizazz.

Tip 2- Accent Lighting

If you watch closely, you’ll notice that the Christmas tree lights aren’t the only lights making each room bright in a Great American Christmas movie. We make sure to add accent lighting all around in the form of garlands, lamps, candles, etc. These sources of light help to bring a warm glow to every room, making it even more merry and bright!

Tip 3 – Add a blanket!

When in doubt—add a blanket! Nothing says ‘cozy up with a Great American Christmas movie’ like a warm, fuzzy blanket. We often ensure that there’s one, if not multiple blankets in every room on our movie sets. Blankets can be folded on a bed, draped over a couch cushion, or nicely sitting in a chair. And, while they act as festive décor, they’re really convenient for those chilly winter nights.

Tip 4 – The more knickknacks the better

On a Great American Christmas movie set, there’s no such thing as ‘over-decorating’ and you don’t need to worry about having too much Christmas spirit. The more knickknacks and small decorations you have out, the better. Don’t be afraid to add to your shelves, coffee table, kitchen counters, and more. We never leave a surface without any Christmas cheer around here!

Tip 5 – Add a faith element

You’ll notice that our mission is to keep ‘Christmas as It’s Meant to Be’ and we reflect that on our movie sets as well. We love to add a Bible, a cross, an angel, signage, etc. all that point to the true reason for the season.
