A 5-Step Guide to Creating a Christmas Basket – Ideas for Teachers, Neighbors, Friends, and Family Here!
By Adrianna Willeford, Social Media Strategist
If you find yourself sparked by the spirit of giving, you may be creating a Christmas gift basket for someone special in your community this season: a friend, a family member, a neighbor, or a teacher! We’ve put together a thoughtful guide for creating the perfect Christmas basket for anyone in your life.

Step One – Decide on the basket recipient! This is a time to think through who in your life may need a little extra Christmas cheer or someone who deserves some extra appreciation.
Step Two – Create a list of their favorite things, items they may need, or things that remind you of that person. A teacher for example, may benefit from items to restock their classroom: extra pencils, crayons and markers, craft scissors, hand sanitizer, etc. A neighbor, for example, may enjoy a recipe card for some delicious Christmas cookies and all of the ingredients to make them!
Step Three – The basket curation! This is time for your creativity to shine bright! Pick out the vessel in which you’d like to carry all of your items. It can be an actual basket, or you can choose something more unique to the person you are gifting to.
Bonus: Some fun basket ideas
- A mixing bowl (filled with a recipe and the items needed to make a delicious holiday treat!)
- A reusable water bottle (filled with pens, markers, rulers, highlighters, etc. to refill the classroom!)
- A flowerpot (filled with some seeds and gardening tools to plant a beautiful pot of poinsettias!)
Step Four – Assemble the basket! This is the fun part, making sure everything looks nice and polished. Feel free to get creative, add a Christmas bow or ribbon. It’s also always nice to include a handwritten, personalized note. If you have holiday stationary, that’s a bonus, but if you don’t, don’t worry, you can hand draw a bow on any card!
Step Five – Gifting time! It’s time to give your Christmas basket to that special person! Delivering your basket in person is always a great way to go, it shows your appreciation and gives you the opportunity to express your sentiment in person.

We hope you feel well equipped to build a beautiful Christmas basket this season! Your community is lucky to have such giving members like you!
