Three Must-See Movies That Celebrate Christmas & Country

By Cammie Loeber

Each year, Christmas comes just a little bit early on Great American Family and Pure Flix! We take a pause from the summer sun to dream of snowflakes and sugar cookies (which can be a very welcome break from the heat) during Great American Christmas in July.  But, July is also home to a major holiday that we'd be remiss not to acknowledge and celebrate... and based on sheer timing it always coincides with the precursor to Christmas proper.

Independence Day is more than just an excuse to barbeque. The holiday exemplifies a unique intersection of faith, family, and country that makes it distinct from any other.
It's a day during which we should all reflect on the freedoms that our forefathers afforded us, with a notable example being the ability to practice and express our faith. The promise of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness is a notion that enables us to build our families and their legacies. And, of course, the Fourth of July marks a moment to pause in our patriotism, and think of the values that bring us together as one nation, under God.

So how do we keep the Christmas spirit while also considering this additional seasonality around the month of July? As a small way to celebrate, these three movies, now streaming on Pure Flix are a great way to remember that the month of July can be about both Christmas and country:

Can they return the uniform to its rightful home, and discover the story of the connected romance along the way?

Tails of Christmas

Tails of Christmas introduces Caleb (Eric Guilmette), a recently returned serviceman as he attempts to integrate back into civilian life. While struggling to find purpose and community on the home front (especially in the wake of an injury), he meets animal shelter volunteer Amber Perry (Ash Tsai), who teaches him that time spent working with furry friends can provide a new perspective.
