President Donald Trump Plans to Attend NBA Finals Game at Madison Square Garden

By Sabrina Novacov

The excitement surrounding the 2026 NBA Finals just got even bigger.

President Donald Trump revealed this week that he plans to attend an upcoming NBA Finals game at Madison Square Garden as the New York Knicks prepare for their first Finals appearance in more than two decades.

After an unforgettable playoff run that has energized basketball fans across New York and beyond, the Knicks have officially punched their ticket to the Finals following a dominant sweep of the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference Finals. The historic moment has quickly become one of the biggest sports stories of the year — and now it could feature a presidential appearance courtside at “The World’s Most Famous Arena.”

According to reports, President Trump shared during a cabinet meeting that he may attend NBA Finals games set to take place at Madison Square Garden next month. Trump also praised the Knicks’ postseason performance and acknowledged his relationship with Knicks owner James Dolan, who reportedly extended the invitation.  The appearance would mark yet another major sporting event attended by the president in recent months, following appearances at championship football, UFC, and golf events.

For Knicks fans, however, the spotlight remains firmly on basketball.

This Finals run has brought a level of excitement to New York City that hasn’t been seen since the franchise’s last Finals appearance in 1999. Madison Square Garden is expected to host a star-studded crowd throughout the series, with celebrities, athletes, and public figures all eager to witness history in person. As anticipation builds, ticket demand for Finals games in New York has already skyrocketed, creating one of the hottest atmospheres in sports heading into June.

Whether you’re a lifelong Knicks fan or simply tuning in for the spectacle, one thing is certain: the 2026 NBA Finals are shaping up to be unforgettable.
