Cindy Busby’s Rescue Dog Brings Extra Love to When Hope Calls: Brookfield

Sometimes, a little love can make all the difference! When Hope Calls: Brookfield star Cindy Busby has found a special companion in her rescue dog, Suzie, whose sweet personality has made her a beloved presence both at home and on set.

In an interview with PEOPLE, Busby shared how adopting Suzie at seven years old transformed her life, bringing her comfort, confidence and a deeper appreciation for the bond between people and animals. Suzie has even become a favorite among the show's cast and crew, brightening production days with her friendly nature.

Busby and her husband have also continued their commitment to animal rescue by fostering dogs in need, including Nina, a Shiba Inu mix who was rescued just minutes before she was scheduled to be euthanized.

Before welcoming Suzie into their family, Busby and her husband, Chris Boyd, fostered two dogs to help them find permanent homes. Their fostering experience eventually led them to MaeDay Rescue, where they adopted Suzie at seven years old.
