As our nation approaches its 250th anniversary, we have an opportunity not just to celebrate history, but to remember the foundation that made that history possible. In April 2026, a powerful and unifying moment will take place in Washington, D.C., as Americans from all 50 states gather at the Museum of the Bible to read Scripture aloud from Genesis to Revelation during a weeklong event called America Reads the Bible. From April 19 through April 25, with a special opening celebration on April 18, the Word of God will be read publicly and livestreamed into homes across the country on Great American Pure Flix, allowing families, churches, and individuals to participate in real time. There will be no editing, no softening of language, and no attempt to repackage what Scripture plainly says. It will simply be the Bible, read clearly, faithfully, and unapologetically.
Presented by Christians Engaged in partnership with Great American Media, this national event will feature well-known voices alongside everyday Americans, each representing their home state and lending their voice to the reading of God’s Word. Through our nation’s history, Scripture has shaped our understanding of freedom, responsibility, dignity, and hope. Yet in today’s culture, faith is often treated as something to be minimized, softened, or quietly moved to the margins in the name of comfort or inclusion. References are diluted, traditions are edited, and truth is sometimes treated as optional. America Reads the Bible stands in clear contrast to that trend by placing Scripture front and center, without apology and without compromise.
Inspired by the biblical account of Ezra publicly reading the Law as a call to spiritual renewal, this gathering serves as a reminder that awakening begins with the Word of God. When Scripture is read aloud, hearts are stirred and lives are changed. As we look toward the next 250 years of our national story, this moment invites us to anchor ourselves once again in timeless truth rather than shifting cultural winds.
