5 Ways to Grow in Gratitude Through Faith

By Natalie Zadrima

We often get so caught up in the hustle and bustle of day to day life that we neglect to acknowledge all of the blessing God has bestowed upon us. Sometimes, we even let the negative moments cloud our ability to recognize the positive. Whether you're in a slump or just need to revitalize your zest for life, here are five ways to help you grow in gratitude through faith in your everyday life.

1. Thank God for the Day, Everyday

Whether it's just before you close your eyes to sleep, or the moment you open your eyes in the morning, make a list of all the things you are grateful for. Have gratitude to God for opening your eyes this morning, and helping you get through the day at the end of the night. Thank God for His blessings, and ask the Holy Spirit to open your eyes to the blessings you may have overlooked.

2. Keep a Prayer and Gratitude Journal

Get any notebook (bonus points if it's a cute one) and designate it as a place to write down all of your prayers and the things you are grateful for. This is a great place to write all of the blessings you recognized from the day.

3. Find Inspiration in the Stories You Watch

Entertainment can also be inspiring and uplifting. At Great American Pure Flix, that is our whole purpose. Finding stories that lead you to God, inspire you, or help you to believe in humanity again, can revitalize your life and help you to recognize all of your own personal blessings. Watch all new original shows and movies that have Jesus at the center, feature traditional values, and focus on family as the heart of the story, only at Great American Pure Flix

4. Express Your Gratitude to Your Loved Ones

Don't just keep your gratitude to yourself, share it with others! God wants to hear your gratitude, and so do your friends and family. If there is anyone that you are thinking of who you are especially grateful for, I challenge you to reach out to them. Let them know how thankful you are to them for being in your life, and everything they have done for you. If they really did something special, you can even get them a token of your appreciation, whether it be a simple 'Thank You' card, or even a subscription to Great American Pure Flix (it's the gift that keeps on giving)!

5. Celebrate the Blessings of Others

Don't just be grateful for your own blessings, be grateful for the blessings you have seen God give others, even if it has nothing to do with you. Not only is that a practice of true faith in God and an act of selflessness, but it also helps you to recognize the blessings in your own life, and have hope for the blessings that might be coming your way.
