13 Celebs Who Are Also Adoptive Parents

PureFlix.com’s latest movie release, “God’s Compass,” tells the story of two siblings who lost their parents years ago. Unhappy in foster care, the children build their lives as runaways - until they meet Suzanne Waters and her family. Below are some real life people who also have their own stories of adopting children who need a home.

1. Sandra Bullock

The actress adopted both her young children, Louis and Laila, from the Louisiana foster-care system. When she adopted her first child, she told People, "It was like the whole outside world got quiet. It was like he had always been a part of our lives.”

2. Jim Caviezel

Caviezel and his wife adopted two disabled children. They say they have felt “blessed by their family above everything else.”

3. Kirk Cameron

Kirk Cameron's and Chelsea Noble’s four oldest kids (of six) are adopted. Cameron told People, “I forget who’s adopted and who’s not.”

7. Sheryl Crow

The singer adopted her son Wyatt in 2007, and another son Levi in 2010. Crow told Christianity Today, that the children know "that they came out of different tummies. But they also believe, as do I, that God put us together.”

Curtis and husband, Christopher Guest, are the adoptive parents of Annie and Tom. Curtis is also the author of a children’s book about an adopted child called, Tell Me Again About the Night I Was Born.

The actor and his wife, Deborra-Lee Furness, have 2 adopted children. Jackman has been a huge supporter of his wife’s efforts to simplify adoption laws in Australia.

The celebrity couple is famous for adopting children from around the world. They have adopted six children in total: Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Vivienne, and Knox.

Justina Miller

Justina Miller grew up as a full time musician in a band with her sister. At eighteen she took her creativity to a University setting where she studied poetry at George Mason University and Oxford University in England. After college, Justina worked in campus ministry leadership with FOCUS at Vanderbilt University. There, she mentored students while fundraising her entire salary.

Justina went on to volunteer at an orphanage in India, and came back to the states to run conferences for FOCUS. In 2012, she returned to her musical roots to perform in DC as a jazz singer and maintained freelance writing gigs for columns, copywriting, screenplays, and ghostwriting for a major publication.

Recently, Justina has settled in New York City where she performs in local venues, continues to freelance, and runs crowdfunding, email marketing, and social media management for the Chiaroscuro Foundation.
