Meet Spouse-ly's Monica Fullerton

By Natalie Zadrima

Monica Fullerton, a military wife and entrepreneur, saw a gap in her community— talented military spouses with something to offer, but nowhere to share or sell their creations. That’s when she created Spouse-ly, a purpose-driven e-commerce marketplace that highlights women, veterans, and first responders.

Spouse-ly offers military spouses flexible job opportunities that accommodate the frequent relocations that come with a life of service. Not only does Spouse-ly give military spouses these incredible opportunities, it also gives the rest of the country a special opportunity to support military families in a unique way. Monica has been widely recognized for her innovation, from being named one of the “Trailblazers in Tech” by Military Spouse Magazine, to being featured in Forbes’ Next 1000 list of emerging entrepreneurial innovators, to being recognized by Inc. as one of 200 outstanding female founders making an impact in business leadership and community growth.

We caught up with Monica to talk about Spouse-ly, how it has positively impacted the military community, and the heart behind it all:

Q: You founded Spouse-ly to support military and first responder families—what inspired you to take that leap into entrepreneurship, and how has your faith guided your journey?

I’ve always believed we’re given certain experiences for a reason. As a military spouse, I saw firsthand how much talent was within our community but also how hard it was for families to find consistent opportunities. I knew I couldn’t just sit on the sidelines. Taking the leap into entrepreneurship wasn’t easy, but it felt like a calling. My faith reminded me that the discomfort of stepping into something new could lead to something meaningful- not just for me, but for so many others. I leaned into trust. Trust that even when the path felt uncertain, I was being guided to build something bigger than myself.

Q: What has been the most rewarding part of building a platform that empowers military spouses and families?

The most rewarding part has been seeing others rise. Watching military spouses turn their ideas into income, witnessing their confidence grow, and hearing the stories of how Spouse-ly has impacted their lives... that’s everything to me. I set out to create opportunity, but what we’ve built is a movement filled with connection, purpose, and possibility. It’s a reminder that when we lift each other up, incredible things can happen.

Q: How do you balance your role as a businesswoman and a military spouse while staying grounded in your values?

It’s not always easy, but I try to lead with intention in every area of my life. I don’t believe in perfect balance, but I do believe in alignment. I’ve learned to ask myself often: Is this helping me serve my family, my community, and the mission I’ve been given? My values are what keep me centered. They guide every decision I make, even the hard ones. And when things feel overwhelming, I try to pause and remember why I started.

Q: What advice would you give to other women feeling called to start something meaningful but unsure of where to begin?

Start with what’s on your heart. You don’t need all the answers or the perfect plan to begin. You just need a willingness to take the first step. The truth is, your calling won’t wait for perfect timing, it will keep showing up until you decide to trust it. Surround yourself with people who believe in you, stay rooted in your why, and remember that you were made for more. The world needs what only you can bring.

Q: Are there any family traditions or faith practices that help keep you and your family centered amid the demands of military life?

So many little things help keep us grounded. The biggest thing for us has been learning to embrace the military journey and using it as an opportunity to keep opening new doors, adventures, and core memories. I am a big believer in turning what might seem to be impossible into I’m possible and that is something we are showing our twins firsthand. One of my favorite family traditions is celebrating "twin day," the day we found out we were having twins. From that moment on they have been our greatest gift and joy that will forever be our anchor to everything we do and accomplish together on this journey.

Q: What does "faith, family, and country" mean to you personally, and how do you see that reflected in your work?

To me, it’s more than a saying- it’s a way of life. Faith is what keeps me grounded, family is what keeps me going, and country is why I serve in the way that I do. Through Spouse-ly and everything I’ve built, I want people to see that you can honor all three in the work you do. You can build a business and still lead with heart. You can pursue big dreams and still show up for your family. And you can create impact while remembering where you came from and who you’re serving. That’s what it’s all about.
