Christmas traditions are the familiar moments that return each year and gently remind us who we are and who we love. Whether it’s decorating the tree together, gathering for a cozy movie night, baking family recipes passed down through generations, or attending Christmas Eve church, these traditions create a sense of comfort, belonging, and joy. They slow us down, invite reflection, and fill our homes with warmth, laughter, and faith.

Here are Great American Media programming team’s favorite Christmas traditions. We’d love to hear yours too, so be sure to comment below!

President & CEO of Great American Media

Bill Abbot

"My favorite Christmas tradition is decorating the fences outside and decorating the tree with my family."

Chief Revenue Officer & EVP of Programming

Kristen Roberts

"I’ve always loved Christmas morning. It has changed over the years as my kids have gotten older, but there is still excitement in giving gifts to one another and spending time together as a family. We always finish opening presents and then make our Christmas pancakes. We’ve used the same holiday molds since the kids were born, they rarely look exactly like they’re supposed to, but they still taste the same! The season can be so busy and overwhelming, but by Christmas morning, everything slows down, and we’re able to relax, be present, and enjoy this special time together."

Chief Brand Officer & Chief of Staff

Kaitlyn Haubrich

"My husband and I are enjoying new traditions as we celebrate Christmas with our little one. I love the quiet, early-morning (very early!) moments we get together as a family — right before the day fills with loved ones, laughter, food and fun chaos!"

VP of Programming & Development

Allison Unger

"One of my favorite traditions is going to Christmas Eve service with my family. Hearing the story of Christ’s birth put’s the season in perspective and a reminder of what we’re celebrating. And ending with a candlelight singing of Silent Night - beautiful!"

Programming & Development Manager

"One of my favorite Christmas traditions is slowing down and sleeping in on the chilly morning, sipping hot tea in my favorite Christmas mug, baking & decorating cookies, building gingerbread houses, and enjoying the soft glow of Christmas lights around the house. I love spending the day watching Christmas movies, especially when snow is falling outside, making everything feel extra cozy and full of joy."

Programming & Development Manager

Natalie Zadrima

"My favorite tradition is having a seven fish feast on Christmas Eve and exchanging gifts with my cousins before going to Midnight Mass!"

Programming & Development Content Cordinator

McKenzie Burke

"My favorite Christmas tradition is spending Christmas Day at my aunt’s house, where my whole family gathers to celebrate. We always end the night with our yearly skit performances, and it’s something everyone looks forward to! Everyone in my family gets very creative. Some sing Christmas songs, others share short readings about the meaning of Christmas, and some play a new guitar piece they’ve learned. We’ve even had a family member put together a fun family game show for everyone to participate in! It’s always so much fun, and it’s one of those traditions that makes the day feel extra special for all of us."
